These Terms & Conditions set out the agreement between The Canine & Co Classroom ("I", "me", "my") and the person booking or receiving services ("you", "your" or "the client").

By booking a service with The Canine & Co Classroom, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

Nothing within these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

1. Services

The Canine & Co Classroom provides reward-based dog training, behaviour support and scentwork services.

Services may include:

• One-to-one dog training

• Behaviour support and behaviour modification plans

• Puppy and adolescent training

• Scentwork training

• Group classes

• Courses and workshops

• Online or remote consultations

• Follow-up support by email, telephone or other agreed methods

Advice and training plans are tailored to the individual dog and caregiver based on the information available at the time.

2. Training Methods & Animal Welfare

The Canine & Co Classroom is committed to reward-based, welfare-centred training.

I do not use or recommend methods or equipment intended to cause pain, fear or discomfort, including electric shock collars, prong collars or other aversive training tools.

Clients are expected to follow the welfare and safety guidance provided during training.

I reserve the right to stop or refuse a session where I believe that continuing would compromise the welfare or safety of a dog, person or other animal.

Where appropriate, I may recommend that veterinary advice or further assessment from an appropriately qualified professional is sought before training or behaviour work continues.

3. Information & Client Disclosure

You agree to provide accurate and complete information about your dog to the best of your knowledge.

This includes relevant information about:

• Previous bites or aggressive behaviour

• Behaviour around people or other animals

• Fear, anxiety or reactivity

• Medical conditions, pain or injury

• Medication

• Previous training history

• Any other information that could reasonably affect the safety or suitability of a session

Behaviour and health are closely connected. If I believe pain, illness or another medical issue could be contributing to your dog's behaviour, I may recommend that you speak to your veterinary surgeon before training continues.

If significant information that was known to you has not been disclosed and this creates a safety or welfare concern, I may stop or postpone the service.

Any cancellation charge or refund in these circumstances will be considered fairly, taking account of services already provided and any reasonable losses directly resulting from the cancellation.

4. Dogs Affected by Breed-Specific Legislation

You are responsible for informing me if your dog is subject to breed-specific legislation, an exemption requirement, court order or any other legal restriction that may affect the provision of services.

The Canine & Co Classroom may be unable to provide services to certain dogs because of legal, venue or insurance restrictions.

Where I am unable to work with a dog for these reasons, I will explain this to you.

You remain responsible for complying with all legal requirements applying to your dog.

5. Booking & Payment

Services must normally be booked in advance.

Unless otherwise agreed, payment is required to confirm your booking.

Prices will be displayed on my website, booking information or otherwise confirmed with you before purchase.

Payment may be made using the payment methods offered at the time of booking.

Where a package of sessions is purchased, details of what is included and any applicable validity period will be provided at the time of booking.

6. Your Right to Cancel

Where you enter into a contract for services at a distance, for example online, by telephone or by email, or in certain circumstances away from my business premises, you may have a statutory right to cancel the contract within 14 days without giving a reason.

The cancellation period will normally begin on the day after the contract is entered into.

If you specifically request that services begin during the statutory cancellation period, you acknowledge that if you subsequently exercise your right to cancel, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for services already supplied at your request.

Where the service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following your express request and acknowledgement, your statutory cancellation right may end once the service has been fully performed.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to restrict your statutory consumer rights.

7. Cancellations & Rescheduling

I understand that circumstances change.

Please provide at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

Where less than 48 hours' notice is given, I reserve the right to charge for the booked appointment where I have suffered a loss as a result of the cancellation and have been unable reasonably to avoid that loss, for example by filling the appointment.

Any cancellation charge will be reasonable and will reflect the circumstances and the loss incurred rather than operating as a penalty.

Failure to attend an appointment without notice may result in the session being treated as a late cancellation.

These provisions do not affect any statutory cancellation rights you may have.

8. Packages & Unused Sessions

Where you purchase a package containing several sessions, payment covers the services described when the package is purchased.

Once a package has commenced, amounts relating to services already provided are not refundable simply because you decide not to continue.

If you wish to cancel the remaining part of a package, any refund due will be considered in accordance with your statutory rights and the circumstances of the cancellation.

I may deduct the reasonable value of services already provided and reasonable losses directly resulting from your cancellation where legally permitted.

This replaces any blanket "no refunds" policy and does not affect your statutory rights.

9. Cancellation by The Canine & Co Classroom

Occasionally I may need to cancel or reschedule a session because of illness, emergency, severe weather, unsafe conditions or other circumstances outside my reasonable control.

Where possible, you will be offered an alternative date.

If I cancel a service and cannot provide a suitable alternative, you will receive an appropriate refund for the service that has not been provided.

10. Client Responsibilities

You remain responsible for your dog throughout training unless specifically agreed otherwise.

You agree to:

• Follow reasonable safety instructions.

• Keep your dog appropriately secured where required.

• Use suitable equipment for the activity.

• Tell me about changes to your dog's health or behaviour.

• Inform me of known bite or aggression risks.

• Maintain an appropriate distance from other dogs or people where requested.

• Follow venue rules when attending classes, workshops or events.

• Supervise children attending sessions.

Children under 16 must be appropriately supervised by a responsible adult.

Where muzzle training or the use of an appropriately fitted muzzle is recommended for safety, this will be approached positively and with consideration for the dog's welfare.

11. Health & Infectious Illness

Please tell me about any health condition, injury, medication or veterinary treatment that may affect your dog's ability to participate.

Dogs showing signs of an infectious illness should not attend group classes, workshops or events.

If you are unsure whether your dog is well enough to participate, please contact me before attending and seek veterinary advice where appropriate.

Individual venues or activities may have additional vaccination or health requirements. These will be communicated to you where applicable.

12. Dogs in Season

If your dog comes into season before a class, course, workshop or event, please contact me before attending.

Whether your dog can participate will depend on the type of session, venue, other dogs attending and the welfare and safety of everyone involved.

Where attendance is not appropriate, I will discuss the available options with you.

13. Behaviour & Safety

Dogs experiencing fear, anxiety, frustration, reactivity or aggression are not automatically excluded from working with The Canine & Co Classroom.

Each dog will be considered individually.

However, I reserve the right to alter, postpone or stop a session if continuing would create an unreasonable safety or welfare risk.

Appropriate management measures may include increased distance, barriers, leads, long lines, muzzles or changes to the training environment.

14. Group Classes, Courses & Workshops

Dogs attending group activities must remain under the control of their caregiver.

Please respect the space of other dogs and caregivers.

Dogs should not be allowed to approach another dog unless specifically invited to do so.

Training environments can sometimes be stimulating or overwhelming. You are always welcome to give your dog additional space, take a break or leave a session early if this is in your dog's best interests.

15. Weather & Environmental Conditions

Training may be adapted, postponed or cancelled where weather or environmental conditions could compromise animal or human welfare.

This may include excessive heat, severe cold, storms, unsafe travelling conditions or unsuitable ground conditions.

The welfare of the dogs attending will always take priority.

16. Training Outcomes

Dogs are individuals and behaviour is influenced by many factors, including genetics, health, previous learning, environment, emotional state and opportunities to practise behaviour.

For this reason, specific training or behaviour outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Progress may also depend upon how consistently management and training recommendations can reasonably be implemented between sessions.

I will provide services with reasonable care and skill but cannot guarantee that a particular behavioural outcome will be achieved.

17. Veterinary & Behaviour Referrals

Dog training and behaviour support do not replace veterinary care.

Where appropriate, I may recommend consultation with your veterinary surgeon or another suitably qualified professional.

Where collaboration with another professional would benefit your dog's welfare, information will only be shared in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements and, where required, with your consent.

18. Liability

I will provide my services with reasonable care and skill.

You remain responsible for the management and control of your dog and for taking reasonable precautions to protect yourself, your dog and others.

The Canine & Co Classroom is not responsible for loss or damage that was not caused by a breach of my obligations or negligence.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights relating to services.

The Canine & Co Classroom holds appropriate business insurance.

19. Photographs & Video

Photographs or video may occasionally be useful for training, educational or promotional purposes.

Where images or recordings identify you, I will seek appropriate permission before using them publicly for marketing or promotional purposes.

You may decline permission for photographs or videos to be used for promotional purposes without this affecting the service you receive.

20. Online Consultations

Where services are provided remotely, you are responsible for providing a suitable and safe environment in which to follow training advice.

Please do not attempt an exercise if you believe doing so would put you, your dog or another person or animal at risk.

Tell me if circumstances are different from those discussed during the consultation so that advice can be adjusted where appropriate.

21. Data Protection & Confidentiality

Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data-protection legislation.

Information provided during consultations will be treated appropriately and will not ordinarily be shared with third parties unless there is a lawful basis for doing so.

22. Training Materials & Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, handouts, training plans, written materials, course content and other resources supplied by The Canine & Co Classroom remain my intellectual property.

They are provided for your personal use in connection with your dog's training.

They must not be reproduced, sold, published, uploaded, distributed or used commercially without prior written permission.

23. Complaints

I want clients to feel comfortable raising concerns.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service you receive, please contact me as soon as reasonably possible and provide details of your concern so that I have an opportunity to investigate and respond.

I aim to deal with complaints fairly and promptly.

Nothing in this section affects your statutory consumer rights.

24. Changes to These Terms

These Terms & Conditions may occasionally be updated to reflect changes to my services, business practices or legal requirements.

The terms applying to your booking will normally be those provided or made available to you when the contract is entered into, unless a change is required by law or is otherwise agreed with you.

25. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to deprive a consumer of any mandatory legal protections or rights regarding where proceedings may be brought.
